Sounds become a part of our memories so naturally. A flicker of trees, the dripping of a tap, the creak of a house, the voice of a loved one; we find ourselves listening for these sounds more and more as the memory fades.

The tracks on this record feel like home, they are the youthful longings and memories that make up the soundtrack to the lives of the eight members within House Art. This record, played meticulously, yet wildly without abandon- encapsulates the feeling of the sounds that the family of friends found themselves hearing as they recorded in the old home of Franz Johnston in Wyebridge, ON. A cozy place of stained glass windows, old proverbs covering the walls, and forest surrounding the historic walls.

The sounds within are of an old breed, of a furvored longing to create something that will endure. They are sounds that ring timeless-as violins soar into the ancient wood ceiling, as voices ring through the main hall, as piano floats under the beams, as guitars crash together in an aged crusade to manifest the emotions of the musicians.

Found / Sounds is a muffled shout, an audible whisper, something to hear in it's entirety, a record to get lost in, and for House Art: a beginning.

Track Name: Spirit Radio
written by c. ballantyne

just leave me here to be (with the spirit of my lovers)
i don't deserve this trust-
somehow it's still not enough

she keeps me up at night to make up for my fallings
at times, the bed lay empty, her chest bare from my callings

boy, I've got to test (like my Father did before)
she's got to know her worth- SHE CANT LEAVE THIS COUNTRY, SIR
Track Name: Broken Tempos
written by r. hawker

When we lost
Our thoughts to bands
Tunes of lust
conquered hands
we danced
beneath the granite sheet
those sickling moves
are coming so sweet

the night tires

moving slowly warrants fast
wanting more than just the task
growing tired
of silver lining tags
needing resistance
but only finding

the night tires

love leave me
under the blankets we threw down
for nothing
waiting is such a sweet sound
broken tempos
draw me a map of our trails found
you left here
in our bodies we will

Track Name: Melrose
written by c. ballantyne

in the winter of recession (that I held you close)
when a sister's under pressure, I miss you the most
staring at her fingers, oh the wait is prose
ian's words would almost whisper,
'boy, hold on to those'

this music's got me reeling, the way she moves she's mine
i'm hearing voices of a dead man
'do it one more time!'
and as I gaze across the room now-
the young ones bare their hearts
and with a stare that held my eyes, oh!
the drums, the feeling starts

can you feel it in her breath now
the way the night can end?
can you see it in the stars how
broken hearts can mend?
and for all the time she dances
(boys, you better not see!)
for every moment moving onward- she draws closer to me

the way she's moving now...

the drive home; stationary
mothers waiting still
the way her eyes are lurking...
honey, he don't got the will
hips slide beneath a canvas; explosions in her eyes
i think I'm moving with a goddess-
drunk up on her sighs

the way she's moving now...

GUN CLUB (Neighbourhood Years)
written by w. crann (& c. ballantyne & r. hawker)

i have found the big thing in the sky looking down (i have found...)
the sun in your eyes, has turned your hair from red to white (and grey)
she says stop
and know her there

all those kids are having their fun, but baby billy's packing
his lunch: a machine gun
trying to look cool, trying to look tough
(yellow sweater and a new bowl cut)
but it just wasn't

everybody's busy cutting pictures out their magazines
all he wants to do is sit around and play
but he can't quite figure out the words to say
(Oh no!)

to the dark-haired girl (who broke her arm when she fell)
brought her cast in for show and tell-
baby billy, you poisoned the well

everybody's busy cutting pictures out their magazines
all he wants to do is sit around and play
but he can't quite figure out the words to say

i know she knows that she knows me...
i'm running out of steam, I'm running out of steam...

(... old friends gone away, so i will not stay
mother, i'm leaving... )
